Objective:

Westmead Biobank provides central facilities and services to support best-practice biobanking at Westmead. Located within the Westmead Institute for Medical Research (WIMR), it is one of 8 Westmead Research Hub core facilities supporting researchers across the campus. As a central fee-for-service facility, Westmead Biobank provides biobanking services for multiple biobanks and research groups with different disease focuses. Services include biospecimen collection, processing, storage and distribution, of human and other biospecimens. Future development of Westmead Biobank aims to expand services to cover the management of multiple collections under a unified governance structure and streamline researcher access to materials to ensure that the strengths in biobanking at Westmead are maximally translated into research outcomes.
