Objective:

To collect, process, characterise, annotate, store and distribute brain tissue (an other consented tissues/derivative materials) and associated data from donors recruited into one of four individual brain banks. Brain banks include - Australian Sports Brain Bank (primary focus on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in sporting context) - Australian Veterans Brain Bank (primary focus on CTE in defence/military service context) - MS Australia Brain Bank (primary focus on multiple sclerosis (MS)) - Neurological Brain Bank (primary focus on control cases and other neurodegenerative conditions) Donated tissues and associated data can be distributed to approved researchers (for ethically approved research projects) after review by an independent Scientific Advisory Committee.
